Kathy Cooper, RMT
Kathy Cooper graduated from 3000 Hour Massage Therapy Program from the New Westminster campus of West Coast College of Massage Therapy in April of 2013. She successfully completed the Registration Board Exams later that same year and has been a practicing Registered Massage Therapist ever since. As an enthusiastic and compassionate Registered Massage Therapist, Kathy believes that the keys to successful treatments are to listen carefully to, and work closely with her clients to assist them in achieving their health and treatment goals.
Kathy’s approach to massage therapy is based in holistic treatments ensuring that the chief complaint is dealt with along with any compensating ailments that may be present with the goal of preventing any additional discomfort from developing. During her time at WCCMT; as well as in general practice, Kathy has treated a number of conditions including, but not limited to: Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Nerve Compression and Traction Injuries, Systemic Conditions such as Migraines, Lupus, Scleroderma, and Lyme Disease along with more common ailments such as Low Back Pain, Tight Neck and Shoulder Girdle Muscles and general Overuse Conditions such as Tendonopathies, Muscle Strains and Joint Sprains. Kathy has also completed an 8 week Massage Internship on the Burns, Plastics and Trauma Ward at VGH; treating patients recovering from intensive surgeries and disfiguring injuries, assisting patients in reconnecting with and accepting their changed bodies. Kathy firmly believes that positive therapeutic touch is beneficial for those suffering from Depression and Anxiety and that Massage Therapy is an underestimated source of relaxation and a booster of our bodies natural neurotransmitters that reduce the symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Having lived in Maple Ridge for the past 3 years and having strong ties to Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam, Kathy has dedicated her practice to helping people throughout the TriCities, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge and surrounding communities. Kathy lives in Maple Ridge and enjoys hiking the trails in Golden Ears Park, Pitt Meadows and along the Coquitlam River with her husband and their 2 dogs.
Kathy has a keen interest in Myofascial Releaes, Ligamentous Articular Strain Techniques as well as Pre and Post Natal Care. Kathy looks forward to helping you achieve your wellness goals.
